Call for Papers EMC Zurich '03
Message from the President:
Meet the international EMC community and join us at the next International Zurich Symposium and Technical Exhibition on Electromagnetic Compatibility in February 2003. Following our long tradition, this event will again be hosted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ), Switzerland.
The importance of Electromagnetic Compatibility in today's technical world is steadily increasing. The penetration of electronics, RF and Power systems and technologies in our daily life is at an all-time high and with this comes a higher susceptibility to interference from man-made or natural electromagnetic phenomena. The research community, the industry, and the universities are challenged like never before to invent and develop new techniques and measures to help keep these EMC problems under control.
With this in mind the 15th biennial EMC Zurich will address topics in so diverse fields as Measurement Techniques, EMC Protection, Computational Electromagnetics, Education on EMC, Chip-Level EMC, Test Chambers and many more. Workshops on hot topics will be organized, tutorials will be given and a variety of invited speakers will focus on new and upcoming issues. EMC Zurich '03 offers an excellent opportunity to bring together experts in all the relevant areas from Europe and overseas and to foster direct, personal contact between industry and universities to jointly find solutions to new and challenging problems.
We invite all experts in the field of EMC to submit their latest research results and to join us in Zurich in 2003. Papers will be selected on the basis of their scientific merit, their impact on industry and their interest to the EMC community as a whole. We strongly encourage student participation and will present an award to the best student paper. A special invitation goes to our industrial community to exhibit their latest products, inform us about their services and participate in the conference with papers or workshops to present the industry's view of things.
EMC Zurich '03 marks also a change in leadership of our symposium. Prof. Leuthold, who took over the helm of EMC Zurich from our founding chairman Prof. Dvorak more than 20 years ago is going into retirement. Under his leadership EMC Zurich has become the premier conference on Electromagnetic Compatibility and one of the most important meeting places of the international EMC community. We are all greatful for his many years of service and will continue EMC Zurich in the same spirit.
Looking ahead to meeting you all again at EMC Zurich '03.

Papers:
Authors are required to submit by July 1, 2002:
- A preliminary manuscript in English, not exceeding 3600 words (maximum of 6 pages in the final format, including figures, tables and references),
- A short summary of the novel contribution this paper provides, and how it is different from or extends existing work, and
- A statement indicating which of the 12 technical committees (TCs) is most appropriate for his or her paper.
The author's information can be submitted either electronically or by mail. If the submission is done electronically (preferred), please send each of the four items above in separate data files to the Technical Program Committee at the e-mail address: emc@nari.ee.ethz.ch Electronic submissions should be (by order of preference) in *.PDF (Adobe), *.PS (Postscript) or *.DOC (MS Word) formats. Other formats cannot be accepted. If a hard-copy (printed) submission is made by the post, the authors should send two copies of the above information to the Technical Program Committee at the symposium address in Zurich indicated on the next page.
To expedite the review process, it is imperative that the authors provide all of the information listed above. Submissions not containing this information cannot be considered for review.
Attention Students!
Student Paper Competition:
Papers to be considered for the student prize are expected to represent predominantly the work of the student. Papers co-authored by a student and his adviser are also admissible. Please indicate in your covering letter if you want to be considered for the student paper prize, and in the case of a co-authored paper, identify the name of the student. Student papers will be reviewed like all the other papers and will be presented in the regular sessions. A jury will decide the best paper based on the paper content and its presentation. There will be a prize for the best student paper and an invitation to the Banquet at which the winner will be officially announced.
Authors Please Note:
- The format and style of the preliminary manuscript should have the character of a final paper and must include key figures, diagrams and data. Commercial or promotional papers are not acceptable. If accepted, revisions to this submission (such as changes in the text as well as the inclusion of new material or modification of conclusions, data etc.) are permissible and may be presented in the final paper, so long as they do not substantially change the purpose of the original submission. Format and style for the camera-ready manuscript in 1:1, A4 format will be provided in the authors kits or on the
web.
- Papers will be reviewed by at least three experts. For purposes of anonymity, authors names, affiliations, addresses (please indicate only one address for all correspondence), e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers and other identifications should be provided on a separate sheet.
- Only papers not published or submitted elsewhere will be considered.
